The Four Pauses
The Almighty Satguru Nanak Sahib,Bhai Mardana Ji and others were sitting in the early spring of 1520 in St. Peters Square around after noon.It was before Soder that the Almighty Satguru asked Bhai Sahib to set the Rabab in the Ghar one, Sing Chaupadae in the Dhanasri Raag. He gave us a Shabad in the Dhanasri Raag.
Dhanasari Mahala 1 Ghar 1 Chaupadde. They sang Mool Mantra at the first hand. Pious page no.660 of SGGS. Ghar 1 means one clapping of the Taal which contain six Matras or six beats. In the Mool manter, the Almighty Guru has clearly defined the brief nature of Almighty God or His qualities in brief as --He is but only one, His name is true,He is the creator of the universe, He is the male (Purakh) only Who is present in everyone, He is without fear. He has no rivalry at all neither is His rival or opponent. His identity is everlasting,He never takes birth nor dies.He is self produced and He can be obtained by the grace of Almighty Guru.
In this holy Shabad the great Guru has used the four Rahaoos. The Rahaoo means the pause or think deeply. The central idea of the Shabad is given herein. The almighty Guru has used the four pauses because he made us to understand that Almighty God is in all directions that is He is present every where.Earlier and even now it is understood by a respected community that the God is present only in south direction, whereas the other thinks that God is present only in the west."Dakhan Des Hari Ka Bassa Pachhim Alah Mukama----Pious page no.1349 of SGGS.In these Pious lines the Almighty Guru has defined that the God is available every where and even in the mind of every one, which is the place of His stay. There is no question of a direction, He is present in all, in this and other universes too. The explanation of the aforesaid Shabad is given by Darpan written by Prof. Sahib Singh in the following words.
My mind fears that with what name I should address to the Almighty God because all the artificial names fall extremely short of His qualities. In Raag Bilawal the Almighty Satguru confirmed that Your Almighty is the true Emperor and I called You mere and just " Mian" Pious page no.795 of SGGS.The Almighty Satguru continues in the present Shabad that He is the remover of all mental and physical ailments. I remember Him because He is the only remover of all my pains and at the same time He is the Donater(Data) for all of us.The Sahib is every day the brand new and never gets tired of my demands. He always donates us and whatever He gives never takes back. The Pause(1). He deserves to be remembered every day and night because He the only saviour in the last. By listening to His Name my body crosses over the ocean of this universe. I cross this worldly ocean by His merciful Name I sacrifice myself over Him many a time. The Pause(2).He is true and only but one. That is there is no rival to Him. That is why every one serves Him and deserves His grace. How can I do without You so give me Your grace so that I can take Your Name. There is no second before whom I can make any request. The Pause(3). You are to remember the Almighty God and donot go hither or thither.Nanak is His slave(Das) and sacrifices himself every second on his Almighty Guru.O Sahib I sacrifice myself on Your Almighty Name every second of my life. The Pause(4).
Once again the fifth Nanak, Satguru Arjan Sahib Ji has used the four Pauses on the Pious page no. 96 of SGGS. to remind us and to learn by heart that God is one and we must remember Him and serve His huamanity and shower your love on every one.The Almighty Satguru writes in the Maajh Raag" Mera Man Lochay Gur Darshan Taaein--". My mind longs for having a glimpse of Almighty God.
The Sikh Theory of Sarbat -Da -Bhala or the Universal Brotherhood was conveyed to the whole world at the venue of St. Peters in Vatican Rome by the Almighty Satguru Nanak Sahib and respected Bhai Mardana Ji that is together by the Almighty Satguru and the respected Sikh.
