New Words in Guru Granth Sahib For New-Generations.

There are certain words in Guru Granth Sahib Ji which sounds unfamilier to the new generation particularly in the West and Australia. The reason is that the new generation used their alternatives or sustitutes, that is why those original words are difficult to understand. Dictionary or Steek is needed for them.We must know those original words and clarify those words so that the new generation can easily understand them. It is the duty of every one senior, or young, to locate them and tell the proper and exact alternative for them. The first word is 'Cheethra'   or 'Prola' which means a small piece of clothe used for cleanliness.Mostly, it is used for wet cleanliness.'Chaki Ka Cheethra---'Basant Kabir Jio on Holy Page No.1196 of SGGS.Its alternative or substitutu is 'Mop'. Mop is used for wet cleanliness these days.

Second word is'Khanali'-a piece of cloth used by oil maker(Teli) to wipe out the oil. These days we use special tool in the machine of oil making and mostly we buy the oils from the store. That is why the new generation does not know about the word'Khanali'."Khanali Dhoti Ujjal ---"Pious Page No.651 of SGGS.

Third word is "Lavi"."Lavi Aya Khet----" Holy Page No.73 of SGGS, which means when the crop of human life is "Ripe". "Lavi means complete ripe and ready to cut.Fourth word is "Lavei"-----Lavei Kar Tayar----.Lavei is volunteers. In Punjab's villages, the volunteers are arranged to cut the harvest. For the new generation it is just like volunteer-work.

Next is "gahan" which signify threshing. In the past the farmer used to thresh their harvest through Gahan activities. Threshers came to Punjab & Haryana in 1970. These days Combine and threshers are the substitutes for "Gahan" Holy page no. 133 of SGGS.

Next is the word "Bohal". "Bohal Bakash Jamaya" Page No. 73 of SGGS. This word means the "Stock". Modern stockist or whole- saler is the substitute for "Bohal."

Next are "Basole" or "Kasoule". "Kam Krodh Due Karo Basole Godoy Dharati Bhai" Holy page No. 1171 of SGGS. Moden tools for cultivation are the substitutes and alternatives for " Basole" or "Kasule". These are only a few words which needs special attention and clarification for the new generation to understand Holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Next is "Harhat" which means well. In the past, the irrigation was also done with Harhat, but now a days, there are tubewells, which are the alternative and substitute for Harhat. "Harhat Bhee Tun Tun Karey--" Holy Page No.1410 of SGGS.
